Yesterday at the Scotia Mine Disaster memorial reminds us we still need better laws, strong unions, and collective bargaining to protect workers. .

Saw so many houses damaged or destroyed by the 2022 flood and talked with folks about the need for culverts, floodplain restoration, and more higher ground housing to mitigate damage from future floods. .

Spent yesterday meeting and talking with folks at Isom; heard much concern about power bills! If you think they are high now, take a look at what’s in store for us. The KY Lantern calls out SB 57, SB 250, HB 398, HB 535, and now SB 8 (Brandon Smith, Republican, Hazard). Together, these bills favor special interests over least-cost and most-reliable alternatives and put the cost on us, while diminishing our ability to intervene in decisions. Operation “Epstein Fury” has already cost the 348,503,802 people in the U.S. > $300 million in F15’s, $13 million daily for the strike force, higher oil prices, and 4 American lives lost. A very expensive distraction.
